Friday Update - 10/21
Hey folks,
As mentioned in the last Friday update, no patches were deployed to the live servers this week as we focus on upcoming releases as well as the major updates coming to the game later this year talked about in our developer blog series.
Today however did see the conclusion the A.R.M.O.R. Incursion event and marks the beginning of the Cosmic Chaos event which is now active on the live servers will run through Thursday, October 27th until 11:59 PM PDT.
Early next week Test Center will be updated to begin testing of the next live patch, which will include the first release of the Invaders from the Dark Dimension event in celebration of the upcoming theatrical release of Marvel's Doctor Strange in theaters November 4th. This patch is currently scheduled for Thursday, October 27th and will also include some Halloween surprises - tricksters like Loki and Green Goblin will surely be scheming their best tricks this time of year, so for treats we'll be running the Operation Omega event alongside the first phase of Invaders from the Dark Dimension to help you stock up on Omega Points before the release of the Infinity System! In addition, the bonus Omega XP will be doubled to 48% for the entire week!
As mentioned earlier this week on the forums, we have decided to push the public Test Center release of our major game updates out slightly into early November to ensure that we don't run into any conflicts with the testing and live maintenance of the Invaders of the Dark Dimension event patch. While we are eager to get these updates into the hands of players, we also want to give appropriate time to the testing and deployment of the end of October live server patch, and ensure that no additional patch deployments that may be necessary interrupt any testing of the major game updates in the Test Center environment.
On a side note, you may have experienced issues attempting to access the Marvel Heroes forums today, which is due to a widespread DDoS attack on a major DNS host which is affecting a number of online services worldwide. While this has not impacted access to the game servers, it has affected access to the forums today for many. Measures are currently being taken to mitigate the effects of this DDoS attack as it relates to connectivity to the forums, but you may experience intermittent issues until this situation has been fully resolved. Apologies for the inconvenience!

Game Voice Actors on Strike
I do not know if this has been posted or is even how widely this might be known, but I came across this article and I thought it might effect future game characters, as I do not know when or how long it is before the voice is added to the character. If I am incorrect about I do apologize, but I thought this was something others might want to know about.

Minor concern for one and done powers....
Such as summons. My Doom's/Ultrons/Magik, etc, summons, were all on a F key, to be used when needed, vs my active L/R mouse buttons and 1-6 keys. Any idea how that will be implemented? Especially as I don't want a summon button to take up a active slot. :(
90% Discount spoiled the game for me:(
I have been playing the game for a while now, not as active as some of you but still, got about 200+ hours. I do like the game and when I like a game I tend to support the developers, spent about £100+ GBP in a month, G's some heroes, costumes and almost all Steam packs during the last sale.
Yesterday a mate of mine just told me he got the 90% discount... however this guy is one of the most Scrooge players you can imagine, he NEVER EVER puts any money in a F2P, and he would never pay for a subscription, he thinks for whatever reason the Dev's need to give him everything for free (great business motto). His message reads like this "I got a coupon for 90% off, I paid £8 EURO and got some G's because I did not have any inventory space and that's all I would pay for this game as it isn't developed enough". He has 18 hours in the game...
I am extremely frustrated and Language!, I would have at least asked my SG and friends if they wanted some heroes or skins for free, did a community give-away and spent some serious cash on G's. We get plenty of unfair stuff in real life, I seriously do not need it in a game I was enjoying. The fact that someone can just get such a huge boost is a massive slap in the face. Imagine if WoW did this, some new guy on a trial account suddenly finds himself with every drop, mount and end game gear in the game randomly just by logging in, not even playing the game.
I think that the system needs to be sorted out, maybe start on %25, %50 and %75 only, similar to Warframe or other games. Have some fortune cards, some costumes and heroes, doesn't have to be the expensive ones but still. Why give %5? I got the %5 and was happy to buy about 8000g yet now I just want to uninstall the game and never play it again. That's how I feel, I probably won't but right now I just feel upset. I was happy with the game because I like it and never realised that the 90% was this unfair.

I have geared up my scarlet witch to the max, used up almost all of my omegas;and the trial still vexes me. Will I have to wail until I have 5k more omegas?
Game core updates = enhancement diversification (ED) CoH
I do believe that this game is at a crossroads like another game. That game is mentioned in the title as CoH (City of Heroes). I am sure that some of you remember that game. It was the first super hero MMO to be made my Cryptic Studios and NCsoft.
There was a time when CoH was at a crossroads with glaring issues. The issues being the level 32+ portion of the game was too easy. That game had archetypes (classes). Blasters could easily hit their damage caps. Tankers and Scrappers could easily hit their defensive caps and damage reduction caps. Controllers being master of the lock down also could handle things. That left Defenders as the unwanted archetype on a team. They had to forum super groups and team up on their own. Even though the empathy defender (healer) had the strongest buff in the game called Fortitude.
The devs discussed many ideas and even tried to implement one. It was called the infamous purple patch. Where bosses and lieutenants were buffed to do more damage and have more health. All that did was punish the players that weren't optimal. So that changed was reversed. They knew that they couldn't nerf powers because they promised that they wouldn't do that again. Also they looked into possibly adding in new enemy types into each mob type in that level range. That too wasn't feasible due to it taking a long time to accomplish. So what did they do, you guessed it they implemented ED.
ED solved the problems and made the game better. The only real problem with ED wasn't whether it would work or not. It was the way that they wanted to introduce it. Which was by springing it on the players as a big surprise. At the time when issue 6 "Along Came a Spider" was in closed beta test. The testers could clearly see that the devs had no intentions of telling the players about ED. So some broke their NDA and told the rest of us about ED. That caused the devs of that game to go into damage control. But still after even that was all said and done the game was made better and lasted another 7 or more years after that change. I do believe if that changed wasn't added that game would've died a lot sooner than it did.
Now MH is also at a crossroads. The devs are working on implementing new changes to this game. Sure we will lose a lot of fun stuff that some of use really enjoy using. But they only have two things to do.
Implement the changes and move the game forward. Where they will be able to easily design new heroes and new omegas. Along with revamping older content and adding new content, or.
Keeping what we got and only adding in new heroes, new uniques, and maybe a new omega section once in a while. In time there wouldn't be any room for new content or revamping older content. They would have to focus on new heroes along with costumes. That is because the new heroes and costumes, along with xp boost give them a lot of money. That money is needed to fund the game. New content in the forum of things to do doesn't generate any revenue. So that would be on the back burner for a long time if they ever would be able to find the time to do it.
As more new heroes are added it gets worse. Because then they would have to keep going back to older heroes to bring them up to speed with the ones recently released. It would be a never ending nightmare if they went that route.
As you can see these changes are needed, even though for some it will remove some fun things that we enjoy now.
But the whole point is what is better, having a game that will last a long time albeit with smaller choices that can be expanded on when it will not hurt the game. Or have a game with the only new content being heroes, uniques and omegas (until omegas are all opened up). Where the game is forever content light. that type of game will die shortly because even good players will no doubt have a new hero to sixty and all geared up with in a couple of weeks.
I won't be playing till the major powers update..
I have no motivation to play currently, even with the Strange event coming I won't feel any different. I have zero motivation to play right now as everything is so extremely stale. I would much rather they not have a massive event and instead just put the update on TC already!
First Cosmic done...uhg!
Did my first cosmic and I think once is probably enough.
1-20 wasn't that bad.
21-40 was also manageable.
41-50 was pretty frustrating.
51-55 made me really regret doing it in the first place.
56-60 was just mind numbing.
Took 6 hours total boosted to around 700-800% the entire time. If I were to do it again, I would make sure to save the story missions til the end as they made 52-55 pretty fast.

[New Hero Suggestion] - Doorman
Why he is here? His name is Doorman. That would be enough of a reason, but he also had weak power to go with that and had a team made of Bulimic Female Blob, Not scientific and flat Mister Fantastic and a guy who can't stay dead but dies a lot. This was just so precious to me, so here he is. Due to lack of his powers and skills I tooks some creative liberties to make interesting and fuller power set. Now I open your world to a Doorman. This is the treshold behind which all doors are open and all doorknobs are puns. Doorman:

Origin
Before joining the Great Lakes Avengers, DeMarr Davis was an average American youngster. Sometime during his years in college, DeMarr's mother died. After completing four years of college and three years of graduate school, DeMarr decided to answer Mr. Immortal's newspaper ad asking "costumed adventurers" to join together and form a team. DeMarr, being a mutant and possessing his unique teleportation ability, is able to allow his teammates entrance into almost any structure, thus creating both a stealthy entrance as well as a surprise attack. He joined the original incarnation of the Great Lakes Avengers.
Great Lakes Avengers
Doorman has been the most cynical of the Great Lakes Avengers, constantly comparing the team to the real Avengers, usually at the most inappropriate times, and feeling at times embarrassed by his friends. Nonetheless, DeMarr cares for them deeply, and values each and every member of the team. He was responsible for creating the fallen GLA'ers memorial at GLA HQ. He also still blames himself for the death of one of their newest recruits, the Grasshopper, who died in battle with Batroc and his minions. Zaran (one of Batroc's henchmen) threw a sai at Doorman, who quickly activated his powers, only for the blade to land directly in Grasshopper's head, killing him instantly. DeMarr felt that it was his fault that Grasshopper died and therefore sunk into a slight depression. During this time he also tried to scare another new member, Squirrel Girl off of the team because he feared that she too would die while in service to the GLA.
Death and Resurrection
Doorman himself has died as well, sacrificing himself so that Mr. Immortal could stop the villain Maelstrom. He met with the other dead GLA'ers in the afterlife including Grasshopper who forgave him. Doorman was however intrigued by the absence of Hawkeye. Shortly afterwards, he was summoned by the cosmic entity Oblivion, who declared that thanks to Doorman's connection to the Darkforce dimension, Doorman could prove useful to him, akin to Deathurge who had recently been captured by Mr. Immortal. Doorman therefore replaced Deathurge and became Oblivion's new Angel of Death. Doorman continued to be a member of the GLA although after he helped his friends save the world from Maelstrom, he understood the team's importance and had a new-found respect for them. However, a subpoena from the real Avengers forced the team to change their name to the Great Lakes X-Men or GLX.
Doorman explain events to his Father
Some time after the battle with Maelstrom, Doorman was celebrating Christmas with the rest of the GLX when he informed the team that he had to go and visit his father. Upon reaching his father's house, his father quickly complained that DeMarr was throwing his life away and needed to join the real world. He told his son that he had "stupid powers" and "all the other heroes have better powers than you." Realizing that his own happiness was more important than his father's respect, DeMarr finally admitted the truth to his father: that he had died and came back as the angel of death. He had not come back to visit his father but rather to collect his soul as he had fallen off the roof while setting up Christmas lights and died. Ironically, the revelation of DeMarr's new role in the universe greatly pleased his father, who couldn't wait to brag to all his friends in heaven about how his son was the new angel of death. Upon returning to the team Doorman kept this secret hidden from his friends, not wishing to ruin the happy holidays that they were having.

Darkforce Teleportation: Doorman's body is a portal to the Darkforce Dimension, allowing people or items to pass through him or walk through any solid objects Doorman stands against.
Intangibility: Doorman's Darkforce portal is constant making him completely intangible allowing people or items to enter the Darkforce dimension against his will. Additionally, he can phase through solid objects
After resurection:
Death Sense: Doorman has enhanced cosmic knowledge allowing him to see beyond the veil of life and death. He can also see other beings travelling on ethereal planes.
Darkforce Manipulation: Doorman can also create solid objects from Darkforce such as ski poles and skis or weapons.
Flight: Doorman can flight at light speed.
Superhuman Durability: Doorman cannot be physically harmed.
Costume Summoning: Doorman can change into his costume instantly.

A giant flying humanoid maide of void. Energy radiates from him and he doesn't even move. This energy is damaging and pulls enemies to the center under his feet. He just extends his foot touching the ground and disapear. When he touches the ground and disapears the spece he was filling expodes and knocks enemies back.

Great Lake Help in your power tree you can press this power to chose one of the helpers so only he/she will come. While holding shift and pressing you can chose two helpers from which the helper will be chosen [6 couples].
Great Lake Help this isn't a summon power but works as cyclops support powers. When you press hold it, effect mentioned bellow rotate when you release the button effect is chosen. [Speed or rotation, strenght of this powers and other factors would have to be balanced so it's rewarding to use not easy/ random power]. Effect from heroes:
*Big Bertha is a area of effect hit [she lands and jumps away]
*Flat man wraps around enemies in target line perpendicular to you rooting them and dealing dmg 2/s
*Mr. Immortal runs around you for Xs becoming a shield absorbing X dmg dealt to you.
*Squirrel girl uses her fighting skills on target enemy while her squirrels run from her in a big area dealing small dmg.Great Lake Avengers like in previous talent this isn't a summon power but each of the avengers do their attack choosing high priority targets.
Axe is larger but slower. Have more range and deal more dmg.
Sword becomes faster, deals less dmg, bleed deal less dmg but every hit in the same target make the bleed deal more dmg and last +1s, this effect stacks 4 times.
Collect Souls instead of disapearing you becomes stealth for Xs. Your DD powers done in that time will have busted effect:
*Walkthrough: Stun is irresistible.
*Punch through: Leaves lingerind dmg X 2/s
*Dark Dimension: Fear is irresistible

The Spinning Compass of Marvel Heroes.
It's time for another patented @lesotheron Wall O' Text! Those of you familiar with them will know what to expect, but I should warn you that this may be my Longest Wall Ever! This is a complex subject and there's a LOT of ground to cover.
For anyone who doesn't know what they're getting into:
Preface: Dark Clouds Ahead
There's been a lot of really good discussions in the past month or so about the Systems Updates. Talents, Traits, Items, Infinity Points, Difficulty Sliders, QoLs...it's all exciting stuff and it's waiting just around the corner (hopefully). Even people who aren't hyped are able to make some really interesting points to explain their lack of enthusiasm. It's a good time to be on the Forums.
But there is a dark cloud looming over everything. It's not heavy enough to completely block out the light, but things are certainly looking more dim to some people.
Is Gaz dumbing everything down to cater to casuals? Are they embracing the min/maxers by giving them more powerful gear that's less reliant on RNG? Are these Systems Updates just to attract new players, or are they vital to retaining the Veterans? Both? Neither? All of these questions and more are from people who are all wondering the same thing:
What direction is Marvel Heroes heading in?
I'm going to take this opportunity to examine the concepts of Balance, Power, Flavor and Design Philosophy. I've talked about several of these things before, but I'm going to concentrate them into one topic and expand on them with thoughts that were inspired by other threads. They may not seem connected, but I hope to show how important each is and how they feed each other.
Content, Content, Content
So, I am completely and enthusiastically on board with the direction Marvel Heroes is taking and eager to test out the new changes as they come and help to shape them into something truly epic.
That having been said, other than those who just don't like change and want everything to always stay the same for a variety of reasons, the biggest voice against the current changes has to do with content. They want more. They want different and they want it first.
When it comes to first, it's not going to happen. This massive Juggernaut of a revamp is not going to be stopping now to accommodate that wish. And I'm of the camp that thinks they are prioritizing this correctly. as is. That being said, I think everyone: Dedicated Player, Casual Players and Devs can agree that the other two parts of what they want is desperately needed: More content and different.
I'd like to redirect the energies of the Content focused fan base into making suggestions and coming up with awesome idea (brainstorming) what that content should be and the future of where we want to see the game heading, once the other changes are done. We are going to have roughly 60 awesome, mostly well balanced heroes when all is said and done with these awesome changes: What do we want to do with them?
This is the perfect time to offer feedback and suggestions on this issue if we want to enact real change. The idea seeds we plant here will have time to grow and influence the devs, so when we get to the next step or two after the big three currently in the works, what we do here now can really matter for the future of the game.
I, personally, break the game into the following Categories:
- Hub Life: Crafting, Socializing, Trade, Gear sorting, and mission getting, etc.
- Story Missions: What do you like, what do you dislike, what function would you like this to serve in the game?
- One shots: Do they work as they are? What could fix them? What others would you like to see?
- Terminals: Should this exist? Should there be new or better rewards? Any other suggestions?
- Patrols: Are these the meat and potatoes of what most people will play? Do we want them to be? Alternatives?
- Raids: Are the Raids broken as they are? What would fix them? How should these work? What new ones would you like to see?
- Event Missions: This should almost be a separate post but it's content so it's here. Do they work for you as they are? What new ones would you like to see, what would you like fixed with the existing ones?
- Special missions: Not sure what else to call this. X Defense, Holo Sim and Danger room. Do they work? Are they broken? Why? And better yet how do we fix them? Any new ones you'd like to see?
- Miscellaneous: Some things don't fit neatly into categories or I may have missed a category, dump those here.
I'll be adding my own feedback and suggestions to this after I have a chance to percolate ideas and when I have more time to post. I look forward to hearing what anyone else has to say about this.

Assuming the Infamous Iron Man armor is eventually put into the game. Who do you think it should go to, Doom or Iron Man? While I certainly see a case for both. I would personally prefer it on Doom.
