Talent (or maybe Omega) Suggestion for Crowd-Control Heroes

$
0
0

What if heroes like Jean Grey, Cable, Psylocke, Emma Frost, Dr. Strange, Invisible Woman, et al. received a talent that gave a % chance to make a CC ability irresistible? Like anytime a hero used an ability that stuns/confuses/pulls-enemies-to-cursor/etc. that ability's effect had a <5% chance to be irresistible. I think it would make CC heroes more fun to play and actually feel like capable crowd controllers. It's just a small thought I had while playing today. I'm not sure if it's been suggested before but I'm bringing it up anyway.

What unique thing from uniques and omeg system would you like to keep after rework?

Uniques and Omega System are going away soon.
I think it's a good thing to tell devs what we like and what we would like to see transplanted somewhere else after the change.

For me:

  1. Extremis part of the Nanotechnology Page. Fire, speed and summoning mind controlled Iron Man Suit. I love it. It could be redone to even more represent that concept.
  2. Badoon Soldier's "The basic weapon". If there still will be basic powers after the change item that can make them viable but not boosting so much other powers would be a nice option for other builds.
  3. Doomsaw. Item that gives a lot of one thing and nothing else. Dedicated for specific builds and niche usage.
4 .44. Some other forms of randomnes. Like "one of every six attacks deals critical hit" or "1% chance that your brutal hit will become leathal hit dealing x3 dmg".
  4. Summons. Thor summoning Sif. Rogue summoning Gambit. Wolverine summoning Sabertooth etc. Some of those could have place somewhere else.

For me that's it.
What do you think is unique and worth keeping after the change?

From comments:

  1. Psionic Overload - Risk reward options. Mind Over Matter.
  2. BFG - Big F-ing Gun and not because of the stats but the ball it shoots.

worst of the Lucky Draw rewards?

$

aka "how I know my day is off to a bad start"

I was happy when Gaz announced the Lucky Draw and said that they "will be removing a majority of the repeating daily login gifts from the existing Daily Login Reward system" - primarily because I have wanted them to get rid of the Epic Team-Up Gear reward that repeats every 10 days.

to discover that Epic Team-Up Gear lives on in the Lucky Draw system (in addition to rewards of one crafting element) reminds me of that nagging, recurring cold sore on the corner of your mouth - it's not life threatening or even painful, but it pops up often enough to make you think that you should probably get that vile thing checked out by a doctor.

except in this case, instead of a doctor who will question your history of amorous partners, we've got our Devs - they can actually get rid of these terrible rewards. but they won't do it unless we let them know how we feel.

so please - if you think Epic Team-Up Gear (or other trollish rewards) should be removed from the Lucky Draw:

  • reply and tag your favorite Devs

  • keep it respectful

[Official] Introducing the Lucky Draw!

$

As many of you may have noticed, yesterday we officially launched our new Lucky Draw system to all Marvel Heroes players!

This is a new system to give players a random daily gift upon login, similar to our daily login gift system. When you log in the first time each day, you will see the following window.

Select any of the cards at a chance at some random in game items and a chance for a coupon that allows you to purchase G's at a discount!

If you are granted a coupon for a discounted G purchase, the indicator next to the "Add G" button in the store will turn gold, and mousing over will give you information on the amount of the discount and how much time you have to use the discount.

In the near future, we will be removing a majority of the repeating daily login gifts from the existing Daily Login Reward system and moving to more of a milestone based system for the larger login reward gifts. This change will only impact the Daily Login Reward System, not the Lucky Draw. We will have more information on those changes in the coming weeks.

MARVEL HEROES COMMUNITY ~ PLAYABLE HERO RANKING! ~

$

Hey everyone! It's Sersi here. About a year ago I did a poll where I let the community vote for their favorite female heroes! This year I want to do something similar but this time around I only want to include characters that are playable in Marvel Heroes. So pretty much any of the 59 heroes on the front page are eligible for this ranking. ( Alternate costumes and team ups do NOT count. )

For this ranking, the voting is simple. You'll give me a top ten list of your favorite heroes playable in game. (NOTE: THIS IS NOT BY GAMEPLAY! THIS IS ABOUT HOW MUCH YOU LIKE THEM AS A CHARACTER! Number one on your list will receive ten points to their overall score, while number ten on your list will receive one.

IN ORDER FOR YOUR BALLOT TO COUNT IT MUST BE A FULL TEN HERO LIST WITH DIFFERENT HEROES FOR EACH NUMBER

~DEMONSTRATION~
1. Spider Man (10 points)
2. Green Goblin (9 points)
3. Rogue (8 points)
...
...
...
...
...
...
10. Venom (1 point)

IMPORTANT All votes will be considered eligible until WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 19th after of which any lists I receive will not be counted towards the overall scores. Please take note of this date for the last time I had a ranking I had some complainers who thought the poll time was too short even though I told them to get their lists in quickly and even bolded the date. Though in my opinion, this caters back to the fact that a certain hero didn't get high enough in the community vote, and they were just venting their aggression.

Vote away and have fun! Once the votes are tallied I'll create a separate thread where I'll reveal the order of the heroes complete with graphics created by yours truly.

Is there a way to remove X% coupons?

$

Over the past several weeks, I've got several of those junk 5% and 10% coupons. I mean, they aren't as good as the 1 crafting resource, but they wouldn't be completely awful, except that they start junking up the UI and I can't seem to get rid of them. As soon as I get one, I get a permanent gold icon in the corner for the next two days, and the long-in/log-out screens hassle me about it, as if 5-10% is worth opening the store UI over. There has got to be a way to turn these off, maybe some UI option, or something like those purple TU gear we get, where at least you can sell or discard them.

Item Update - Info on Unique Changes for Crafting, Boxes, Drops, Achievements, etc

$

0

Many questions have been asked about specifics in regards to the different sources of Uniques, related crafting recipes, achievements and loot boxes. While I don't have concretes answers to some of those questions, here is a more detailed list of what is happening with each of those topics. As I have mentioned in some other posts, the Omega item system will not be launching with the Talent update, it will be coming about a month or so afterwards. The Talent update will include the massive hero updates and the new Talent system and updates to items to remove power points and compensate for that change with new attributes or other changes to the items. The Post Talent update will include removing Uniques from loot tables, achievements, removing many Unique related crafting recipes and more. More detail below!

Boxes

Any of the following loot boxes that players have at the time of the Post-Talent update will continue to drop uniques for as long as they keep the boxes. However, new versions of some of these will be added(I say some, since things like the Blue Box doesn't make sense to keep) to drop different rewards instead of uniques. We will not be replacing Uniques with Omega items in these boxes. For boxes that drop uniques for the hero being used at the time of use, these boxes may not work properly as we are not making uniques for new heroes going forward. I strongly suggest opening these items before the Post-Talent update.

  • Coffer of Achievement

  • Daily Bonus Quest Loot Box

  • Danger Room Blue Box
  • Danger Room Black Box
  • Ghost Box
  • Industry City Reward Box
  • Marvel Heroes 1st Birthday Cake
  • Marvel Heroes 2-Year Anniversary Cake
  • Marvel Heroes 3-Year Anniversary Cake
  • Midtown Madness Chest
  • Mysterious Blue Omega Box
  • Mystic Mayhem Coffer
  • Shared Quest Reward Box

Vendors

Vendors that sell uniques as rewards (i.e. Event Vendors, Danger Room Rewards) will have those uniques removed from the vendor loot table with the Post-Talent update. We will add new items to each of these vendors over time to ensure that there are attractive items to purchase. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Cerebra Helmet Interface

  • Howard the Duck's Big Freaking Gun

  • Jocasta's Holographic Image Inducer
  • Machine Man's Chainsaw Arm
  • Portal's Darkhawk Armor
  • Portal's Helmet
  • Standard Issue X-Men Uniform

Crafting

Many changes will be coming to crafting in the upcoming months. The first will be the removal of many recipes that interact with uniques in some form in both the Talent update and Post-Talent update. We really want to reduce clutter recipes on the crafter so we can add new, more exciting ones.

The following recipes will be removed in the Talent update:

  • 50k Credit Chest - Transforms three of the same Unique into a Credit Chest worth 50,000 credits.
  • 200k Credit Chest - Transforms four of the same Unique into a Credit Chest worth 200,000 credits.
  • 500k Credit Chest - Transforms five of the same Unique into a Credit Chest worth 500,000 credits.
  • S.H.I.E.L.D. Med Kit - Transforms one simple element into a S.H.I.E.L.D. Med Kit. Critical Success: You create two of this item instead of one.
  • S.H.I.E.L.D. Med Kits (6) - Transforms two primitive elements into 6 S.H.I.E.L.D. Med Kits. Critical Success: You create twice as many of this item.
  • StarkTech Power Cube Socket - Adds StarkTech Power Cube Socket to a lower level Artifact.

We are removing the exchange recipes for credits during the talent update because we are planning on doing an event during the time between the Talent update and Post-Talent update where we increase the drop rate of all Uniques in a very significant manner. This is to help players gear up and prep for the difficulty slider as much as possible and also help players with any unique related achievements before they become retired in the Post-Talent update. More info on that will come soon. So, that being said - we want to achieve those goals without creating a huge influx of credits in to the economy, as we are working on ways to better balance the entire credit related economy going forward.

Medkits are becoming a standard power and will no longer be craftable, and with power points going away, we wont need a recipe to add sockets to artifacts anymore.

The following recipes will be removed from the game in the Post-Talent update:

  • Random Unique Exchange - Transforms three of the same Unique into one Random Level 60 Unique that is usable by a random hero.
  • Random Usable Unique - Transforms four of the same Unique into one Random Level 60 Unique that is usable by your current hero.
  • Random Any Hero Unique - Transforms five of the same Unique into one Random Level 60 Unique that is usable by Any Hero.
  • Relic Exchange (8) - Transforms two of the same Unique into a random stack of 8 relics.
  • Relic Exchange (20) - Transforms three of the same Unique into a random stack of 20 relics.
  • Relic Exchange (50) - Transforms four of the same Unique into a random stack of 50 relics.
  • Small Box of Runes - Transforms three of the same Unique into small box of 5 runes.
  • Large Box of Runes - Transforms five of the same Unique into a large box of 10 runes.
  • Very Large Box of Runes - Transforms eight of the same Unique into a large box of 30 runes.
  • Random Cosmic Affixes - Replace all the affixes on a cosmic item with new affixes.
  • Cosmic Rarity Upgrade - Transforms an epic (purple) item into a cosmic item of the same slot and level.
  • Random Unique Affixes - Does not change item level or affixes. It only rerolls numbers that have a random range.
  • Rare Transformation I - Transforms a level 12 or less rare item into an epic item of the same slot and level.
  • Rare Transformation II - Transforms a level 13 to 24 rare item into an epic item of the same slot and level.
  • Rare Transformation III - Transforms a level 25 to 36 rare item into an epic item of the same slot and level.
  • Rare Transformation IV - Transforms a level 37 to 48 rare item into an epic item of the same slot and level.
  • Rare Transformation V - Transforms a level 49 or higher rare item into an epic item of the same slot and level.
  • Unique Transformation I - Transforms a level 39 or less unique item into a level 40 version of the same unique.
  • Unique Transformation II - Transforms a level 49 or less unique item into a level 50 version of the same unique.
  • Unique Transformation III - Transforms a level 59 or less unique item into a level 60 version of the same unique.
  • Epic Transformation I - Transforms a level 12 or less epic item usable by another hero into a new item usable by your current hero and binds it to you.
  • Epic Transformation II - Transforms a level 13 to 24 epic item usable by another hero into a new item usable by your current hero and binds it to you.
  • Epic Transformation III - Transforms a level 25 to 36 epic item usable by another hero into a new item usable by your current hero and binds it to you.
  • Epic Transformation IV - Transforms a level 37 to 48 epic item usable by another hero into a new item usable by your current hero and binds it to you.
  • Epic Transformation V - Transforms a level 49 to 60 epic item usable by another hero into a new item usable by your current hero and binds it to you.
  • Unbind Unique Gear - Unbinds a Unique item from a hero but doesn't change the heroes that can use it.
  • Unbind Unique Gear - Unbinds a Unique item from a hero but doesn't change the heroes that can use it.

We are making some significant changes to item progression both while leveling and at end game. We want each rarity to have a significant value and getting an upgrade to drop feels more special to players. Additionally, we understand that RIF/SIF aren't very attractive for players right now and really want to fix that.

The following list of recipes will be updated to work with Omega items in the Post-Talent update:

  • Durability Challenge Bonus - Adds a Durability Challenge Bonus Affix to any Item Grade 63 or higher Unique or Cosmic item.
  • Energy Challenge Bonus - Adds a Strength Challenge Bonus Affix to any Item Grade 63 or higher Unique or Cosmic item.
  • Fighting Challenge Bonus - Adds a Fighting Challenge Bonus Affix to any Item Grade 63 or higher Unique or Cosmic item.
  • Intelligence Challenge Bonus - Adds an Intelligence Challenge Bonus Affix to any Item Grade 63 or higher Unique or Cosmic item.
  • Random Challenge Bonus - Adds a Random Challenge Bonus Affix to any Item Grade 63 or higher Unique or Cosmic item.
  • Random Challenge Bonus (Unique Only) - Adds a random Challenge Bonus Affix to any Unique item.
  • Speed Challenge Bonus - Adds a Speed Challenge Bonus Affix to any Item Grade 63 or higher Unique or Cosmic item.
  • Strength Challenge Bonus - Adds a Strength Challenge Bonus Affix to any Item Grade 63 or higher Unique or Cosmic item.
  • Unbind Item - Unbinds any Armor, Weapon, Team-Up item, Insignia or Artifact from your hero.

The following recipes are still being reviewed and we will discuss at a later date:

  • Slot 1 Gear Upgrade I - Upgrade an Item Grade 63 Unique or Cosmic item to Item Grade 66.
  • Slot 2 Gear Upgrade I - Upgrade an Item Grade 63 Unique or Cosmic item to Item Grade 66.
  • Slot 3 Gear Upgrade I - Upgrade an Item Grade 63 Unique or Cosmic item to Item Grade 66.

  • Unique Item Exchange - Transforms an Ultimate Upgrade token or extra Team-Up Token into a Unique Item that is usable by your current hero. This will be the same level as the hero that is using the recipe.

We want to make sure that players who have unlocked many of these recipes with Hero and Protector commendations don't feel that the effort was wasted. We have some ideas on how to do that, but we aren't ready to talk about them yet.

Achievements

The specifics are still being locked down on this, but as a broad generalization, any achievements that relate to uniques will be retired and moved to become X-traordinary Feats in the Post-Talents update. As this makes these achievements unable to be completed, we suggest players start working on any they want to complete as soon as possible! As mentioned above, we will be having an event that will assist players who want to complete these once the Talent update goes live. There will be some achievements that will be adjusted (such as "The Burning Crusade" achievement chain). We are putting together a list of all achievements to be retired and those to be adjusted, and will post it in the coming days. Just kidding, it is in the post below!

Point of clarification, this is only impacting Unique items for slot 1-5. All other unique items (rings, medallions, insignias, etc) are unaffected.

I hope this clarifies some of the changes. I'm sure there are some things I might have missed, so feel free to ask questions below.

Hey folks,

This week's patch went live yesterday, which was a fairly small patch to switch us over to the A.R.M.O.R Incursion event, which is now live and will run through Thursday, October 20th at 11:59 PM (PDT). There was a minor error in patch notes that referred to next Thursday as October 21st, which has been corrected on the forum notes and should be reflected in the in-game patch notes soon. This week we also released the new Elektra Ultimate costume, which is now available in the store. You can find the patch notes for yesterday's patch here if you missed them:

Marvel Heroes 2016 1.30 Patch Notes

There will not be a patch next week as our focus turns to the major game updates currently in progress as mentioned in our developer blog series. As such, Test Center will not be updated next week. The next patch for the live servers is scheduled to roll out at the end of October. As we get closer we'll be able to share more about what will be coming to Marvel Heroes this Halloween - it may be a bit stranger than usual this year.

Regarding the Lucky Draw system, there's been a lot of discussion regarding the G coupons that can be awarded. We've been following the discussion closely and wanted to investigate the concerns you have raised before making any statements or actions. After reviewing our metrics for how these coupons have been distributed, while the rate that these coupons have been awarded falls in line with our expectations, we did find that the accounts that they were being distributed to revealed an unexpected pattern in how they were chosen. As such, we are rolling out some platform changes today to ensure that all accounts will have the same chances of receiving the possible G coupon rewards available in the Lucky Draw system. These changes should be in effect as of tomorrow's Lucky Draw for all players. We'll continue to monitor the Lucky Draw system to ensure it is serving its intended purpose of benefitting our players to the best of our ability.

Our developer blog talking about the Personal Difficulty Slider is still in progress at this time. As before, we will be posting these directly to the forum for discussion as soon as it is ready, but it will not be posted this weekend. We're working hard to bring the developer blogs to everyone while still moving towards our goal of starting to roll these changes out to Test Center around the end of October. Until then, you'll have to keep an eye on the forums for the latest news, so stay tuned.

That's wraps up this week's Friday update. Have a great weekend!

Some of the new costumes' poses are bland

Have you guys noticed that some of the new costumes are coming with the profile picture like they're taking an ID photo? Too bland, no pose, uninteresting. I was just curious as to why, maybe because of all the changes and they have too much on their hands right now, but I'd like to know if they intend to give them an interesting pose like some of the old ones instead of just looking straight ahead lifeless like a 4x4 pic.

p.s. the ones in-game, where you see in your roster.

Any words on that? @YoungNg @TheDink
Thank you.

[Feedback] Omega Power Suggestions

$

0

As you likely know by now, a new type of item is coming soon - Omega Items:

(Stats are placeholders, and will be stronger on release)

The key bit on these new items is that each has an Omega Power - a buff that doesn't simply give you a brick of stats, but instead fundamentally changes gameplay in some way.

While the team is likely very busy building the first set of these items right now, I thought it would be a good idea to brainstorm some Omega Powers for the second wave of items/affixes. So just post your suggestions here, so that @Asros and company can get a bunch of ideas for new powers all in once place!

  • ???: Signature Power now recovers X Spirit
  • ???: Hitting with a Basic power reduces Signature cooldown by 1 second (1 sec cooldown)
  • ???: Become invulnerable for 1 second when you use [power]
  • Black Widow: When you enter Stealth, your next attack automatically Crits (10 sec cooldown)
  • Cable: Cable can summon 1 additional Psionic Illusion before it goes on cooldown
  • Cyclops: Ricochet Blast gains a Spirit cost and +100% Damage
  • Dr. Doom: Magic/Tech costs halved while no Doombots are summoned
  • Hulk: Cower effect of Deafening Roar is now irresistible, but cooldown is doubled
  • Hulk: Basic attacks generate 200% more Anger
  • Luke Cage: Opener Powers deal +100% damage at full Combo Points
  • Luke Cage: Summoning one Hero For Hire now summons all four for X seconds (1 min cooldown)
  • Magneto: Debris Orbs spawn closer (from Magneto rather than target)
  • Punisher: Reduce cooldown of Rapid Reload by 1 second when you hit with a Basic power
  • Rocket Raccoon: Shield Capacity doubled when Groot is not summoned
  • Rocket Raccoon: My Friend Groot summons 3 Grootlings instead of Groot
  • Rocket Raccoon: Double the range and area of Big Flarkin' Gun
  • War Machine: Double the range and area of Suppressing Fire
  • Winter Soldier: Explosive Sabotage gains a cooldown, but Terrify effect is now irresistible
  • Winter Soldier: Magnetic Disc Mine no longer breaks Stealth

How about it? What powers would you like to see?

So, I have a topic in mind for a longer time now, and I want to read your opinions and impressions about it.

It's almost one and an half year ago as I started with MH. I just found it by visiting other Marvel related sites and was totally stunned, because I never heard about it before.
I downloaded immediatly and selected my first Toon: Deadpool. Just because he's Deadpool, still far away from the nowadays hype (at least in Germany), but I didn't know, that he was a bit... exhausting to play (it was before his review). Well, than there was Rogue as second (because I started just at the 2nd B-Day Event) and from the first 400 Splinters, what at that time one has got at Day 2 or 3 I bought Storm and Hawkeye.
All Characters without any information about their playstyles, just because I like them.
Letting Deadpool aside (who actually was kind of fun even he was much weaker), I just had fun with Rogue and Storm. Hawkeye was extreme frustrating and in the following months of my beginnings in MH I had encounters with a bunch of other characters I didn't like to play.
But now, more than a year later, many things have changed. Of course I collected better equippment over the time, but also I learned much more about the game (well, still learning).

Long Story, but finally here's the bottomline: Many toons were just parking in my roster, because I decided I don't like the ways to play them.
Several months later I tried them again, and I think, it was Captain America, who surprised me first. At my first attempt, I didn't like him that much, but with some more knowledge I achieved he changed to one of my strongest toons until now. Same with Wolverine.

Well, this is my list of toons, that I disliked once for their gameplay and love them so much today.

Black Widow
The reason why I started this topic. She's the one that suffered the longest time for being inactive on my roster. Just yesterday I did a new attempt and was stunned about the result. First I wanted to skill her as Sniper, what was actually pretty strong per shoot, but the time between two shoots... well, let's say, I wanted something faster. So, melee.
And boy, this rocks! Gave her some of my best artifacts and uniques, blessings and her killspeed is amazing. And much more important, she's so comfortable to play now, I just enjoy every moment with her.

Captain America
Like I wrote before, this was my first expression of a toon that proved to be so much better as I expected before.
I didn't like all the cooldown-powers before, because I was not into this whole rotation thing in my early times here. But espcecially Cap gains so much by using (almost) just his CD-powers in a fluid rotation. Now he's the one I prefer to use when doing Axis One-Shot.

Dr. Doom
Well... I guess Vic and I never will be best friends. But this is more because of his character generally. I just don't like his lines.
But aside from that I think I'm the only one here who dislike his summoner build too. Later I tried his Magic tree and yes, he was (for a short time) my strongest character. But even the magic based skills was kind of boring. But some good items later I started to like his melee/tech build pretty much. His personality is still bleh for me (maybe I'm not megalomaniac enough), but at least he's playble for me now in an interesting way.

Dr. Strange
Yeah well, even with almost one and an half year of playtime I still dislike the idea of multiple power bars (of course that's soon no problem anymore).
It really need a longer time of trial and error to find the best combination of his skills for just one bar. But now he's really good, although he's not the strongest in my roster. But at least not frustrating any more.

Hawkeye
Clint always was some kind of problem child for me. Generally I like ranged chars, but he consumes spirit like a thirsty Hawkguy in a desert.
Now, that we got lately some really good spirit-artifacts und uniques it's kind of different. I could concentrate more on his dmg output and more or less dmg/spirit is good balanced now.
So, thirst-frustrations are gone, fun arrived.

Loki
Quite the opposite to Doom in the end. First I prefered to avoid his summons too and concetrated more on his other trees. But his sorcerer skills seemed too weak and the Jotunheim powers were... well, just kind of ok for me. I can't explain why, but I never really even tried his summoning tree.
But recently I did and now the question is just "Why I was so stupid to avoid this for such a long time?!" The mix of movement and summoning is so much fun.

Moon Knight
Again a candidate for too much spirit consuming. And also I always had the feeling that he has not enough useful offensive skills. Somehow I still had in mind because of other games, that one should not mix different playstyles, because it will always end in "knows a bit of everything, but nothing really good". But no, not Mr. Knight. Maybe his melee/ranged dual-build works that good because Marc has multiple personalities - I don't know. But it works - and HOW it works! Just another example in my roster of "from zero to hero".

Nova
This one's a more special candidate, because I never disliked him really. Actually I always loved to play Nova, bit my first attempts was based on just ranged energy beams. What really wasn't that strong. After I discovered his movement-build this changed totally. If Gaz can fix his movement bug, he really has good chances to be my number one again.

Wolverine
Just as Hawkeye I gave him up very early, as I had absolutely no fun with him. What was kind of sad, because I wanted to have fun, he's still one of my favorite characters in the Marvel multiverse.
But same here: More understanding about skills and equipping and now he's one of my high-flyers.

What I would like to know and discuss is, are there any similar expressions that you've made? Or was every powerset of every hero was totally clear for you immediately?
Let me know about your hero-evolutions.

Please note that, as with all these costume threads, this is not meant to be a complete list of all of Ock's costumes and outfits. I will endeavour to update when possible, but please do not be offended if a particular look that was suggested in thread is not added to the list.
