[Hero Suggestion] The Stepford Cuckoos: Skills, Traits and Talent Ideas [UPDATED: 18 FEB'17]

STEPFORD CUCKOOS

Some people think the Stepford Cuckoos, if they're playable in game, should just be like any other playable hero. A single character running around, defeating enemies and completing missions. But what is the Three-in-One without the other two?

In my opinion, if the Stepford Cuckoos becomes playable, they should be together. You click somewhere, the three of them move together in unison. How cool is that? One sister will be in front, while the other two follow her like summons (though they aren't), forming a "triangle formation", just like Gibberlings in Allods.

Lastly, I would like to thank @Wuuren, @Garm, @Shwag, @ApolloSeven, and other "CHIPers", and @Emrost for all of your feedback! I could never have come up with this without ya'll, especially @Emrost and @Garm. :D

BIOGRAPHY

The Stepford Cuckoos were incubated and artificially aged by The Weapon Plus program inside the subterranean level of The World after Dr. John Sublime harvested eggs from a comatose Emma Frost to begin experimentation, hoping to develop a powerful weapon capable of killing every mutant on Earth by combining their telepathic abilities. Thousands of girls were cloned from the ovum, but while the others remained dormant, five girls were sent to infiltrate the Xavier Institute as students sisters to hone their talents for Sublime's purpose.

Emma took a special interest in the girls, and the Cuckoos becoming her protégés. As gifted telepaths, they were registered into Professor X's psychic course along with their rival Quentin Quire. When Quire led a riot at the X-Mansion after enhancing his powers with the drug Kick, Sophie Cuckoo died stopping him by using the same drug and overusing her powers.

Not long after Sophie's death, Esme attempted to murder Emma by shooting her with a diamond bullet. She fled from the X-Mansion fearing that the truth would be revealed about her involvement in the deaths of Sophie and Emma. When Esme returned, it was alongside her lover, Xorn, and they had both become mentally unstable through excessive use of Kick. When Xorn's affection was withheld from her, Esme turned on him, and Xorn murdered her. With the departure of Esme and Sophie, the Five-In-One now became the Three-In-One.

Celeste Cuckoo: Stepford Sister, part of sister Telepathic Hivemind.
Irma "Mindee" Cuckoo: Ditto.
Phoebe Cuckoo: Same.

STATS AND HERO SYNERGIES

Durability: 2 (maxes out at 3, +2 more in Diamond Form)
Strength: 2 (maxes out at 3, +2 more in Diamond Form)
Fighting: 2 (maxes out at 3)
Speed: 2 (maxes out at 3)
Energy: 5 (maxes out at 6)
Intellect: 3 (maxes out at 4)

Hero Synergy:

  • +3% mental damage (lvl 25)
  • +3% physical damage (lvl 50)

PRIMARY RESOURCE(S): DIAMOND ARMOR AND PSIONIC ENERGY

The Stepford Cuckoos will have a dual resource system similar to Dr. Doom. However, these 2 resources work very differently unlike Doom's Power and Magic! Psionic Energy would function like Photonic Energy/Power Cosmic/Stamina/Power/Magic. It will regenerate at a rate of 10% per second and spending Psionic Energy does not cause its regeneration to be paused.
Diamond Armor functions similar to Psionic Barrier/Armor. It negates 60% of all incoming damage and then absorbs the rest. It is restored automatically outside combat or outside Diamond Form (unlike Emma who require a talent for that to happen).

[New Hero Suggestion] - Hank Pym

$
0
0

Why Hank Pym? Because Ant-Man doesn't go Giant Man. Because our Ant-Man have only two energy powers but no gadgets. Car throw is nice but it ain't Hank's Pym whole arsenal. Hank deserves much more and we deserve much Hunk :). I overdid this guy and gave him too many powers but it's because Hank Pym is in the same time Ant-Man, Giant-Man, Yellow Jacket and Earth Scientist Supreme he needs those powers. Without further buttering you up and gloryfing him: Here is Hank.

Henry "Hank" Pym

Introduction

Dr. Henry "Hank" Pym, is an American biochemist with extensive knowledge in various scientific fields. Called "Earth's Scientist Supreme".

Pym discovered a rare group of subatomic particles, which have become known as the "Pym Particles." He was able, through the application of magnetic fields, to entrap the particles within two separate serums. One serum would reduce the size of persons and objects, and the other would restore them to their normal size. Pym tested the reducing serum on himself and discovered it was more powerful than he had expected.

After months of work, Pym succeeded in creating his first "cybernetic helmet," which would enable him to communicate with ants through transmitting and receiving psionic / electrical waves. Thinking that someday he might want to use the shrinking potion on himself again, he also designed a protective costume for himself made of Unstable Molecules and steel mesh.

Afterwards, in the guise of the Ant-Man, Pym battled various menaces. Pym next developed a series of capsules containing the Pym Particles which he and Jannet van Dyne [Vasp and also his wife at the time] used to grow or shrink to various heights. After time he also developed capsules that enabled him to grow to greater than normal heights. Thereafter, Pym preferred to use his power to grow to giant size for crime fighting, and called himself Giant-Man.

In his heroic carier he have taken many roles and many names. His two most known are his smallest as Ant-Man and his biggest as Giant-Man. He have been scientist for avengers, he was Goliath, Yellow Jacket and even Wasp.

Powers and Skills

Super-Genius Intelligence:
Dr. Henry Pym is one of the world's foremost biochemists and also possesses considerable expertise in numerous scientific fields such as subatomic physics, robotics, cybernetics, artificial intelligence, programming, emergency medicine, optics and entomology. He has also referred himself one of the five smartest people on the planet which makes him capable of rivaling others such as Reed Richards and is regarded by the Eternity as the Earth's "Scientist Supreme". During his career, he created robot Ultron, explored and repaired the Vision often, and created much of the Avengers' equipment. Another robot, Rover, was a jet with rudimentary artificial intelligence and sophisticated offensive capabilities.

Skilled Combatant:
Hank is a skilled hand-to-hand combatant using special styles of unarmed combat depending on his size. If he is small, he takes advantage of the opponent's larger form by assaulting points of his/her body that they would not expect and move to another before they detected him. If he was giant, he would take advantage of his own massive form and use attacks that would either throw them off balance or render them unconscious before they could concoct a better strategy against him. Has had some training in judo, karate and wrestling. He was also trained by Captain America in unarmed combat making him a very formidable fighter.

Size Reduction:
As Ant-Man and Yellowjacket, Henry Pym possessed the power to reduce himself to the size of an ant, approximately one-half inch in height, by means of the subatomic particles known as the Pym Particles. The nature, source, and mechanics of the Pym Particles remain unrevealed. Originally, when Pym inhaled a gas or drank a potion containing the Pym Particles, the Particles would interact with the electrical impulses of his brain, creating an organism-wide "reducing field." Thus activated, the field reduced his entire body at a uniform rate to the smaller size he desired. Although he usually chose to reduce himself to one half inch in height, he could reduce his size to any size between that and his normal size. Usually, Pym did not compress his mass into his smaller size. Instead his mass was somehow extended into an extra-physical dimension that is opened by the activating of the Pym Particles, from which the mass could later be reclaimed. Strangely, because Pym's mass was extended extra-dimensionally when he was at ant-size, he retained his full human-size strength at that size. To return to normal size, Pym inhaled another gas or drank another potion, either of which contained another type of Pym Particles. These particles interacted with his brain to create an organism-wide "enlarging field," which is energized by mental command. Thus Pym could grow back to his normal height and reclaim all of the mass that was extended extra-dimensionally.

Size Addition:
Pym also discovered Pym Particles which interacted with his brain to enable him to grow to gigantic height as Giant-Man and Goliath. The growth process required the rapid acquisition of bodily mass, comes from an extradimensional source. This extra dimensional mass fortified all of his cellular tissue, including his bones and muscles, enabling him to support his increased weight, and giving him superhuman strength and durability. Early in his career this caused health problems due to the strain, and he was subject to various limitations on his size and the duration of his transformations (described under History.) He is capable of growing hundreds of feet tall exceeding the heights of even the tallest buildings in New York. He can grow past the barriers of the "Microverse" to enter Overspace, a point above and apart from all other realities where it is possible to confer with abstract cosmic entities

Power Trees

  • Size Altering Avenger
You are both a tiny avenger and a giant crime fighter. This tree is for melee fighting in both this extreme sizes. Hits in vital points as a pinpoint small fighter or stomps and throwing cars as a building size giant.

  • Earth's Scientist Supreme
From ant controll that summons thousands of them and size alterating gadgets that hinder and hurt your enemies to bio-energy stringers and energy guns.

Size Alteration

Now Knowing how Ant-Man works in game, how Vision have mass change and how Emma's Frost change of passives work and having the animation canceling we now have this will be easier to do and could be done in few ways probably.

Defaultly Hank would be normal size. Upon using his "Tiny" powers he would shrink like it's now in the game and after that he woul be back to normal size. When using "Giant" powers he would grow to Frost Giant size. This change would take a little longer and he would stay in this form a little longer after ending the attack [so next power can be used without changing the size] unless power from other trees would be used. His passive would have three versions for each size.

Perks of different sizes

Cosmic Fragments as Currency

Do you guys think that going forward, Cosmic Fragments might be the new "standard" currency, the way GoKs are now?

With there being so many new artifacts, GoK isn't even BiS for a lot of heroes anymore, so it seems they'll lose their value. What do you guys think?

Am I getting slapped in the face?

I have been consistently complaining about one thing in this game: dialog boxes. Still without an option to turn them off, they plague story runthroughs. They find me at the Monolith, in some boss terminals, in Chapter 10, in Hightown.

I used to have an AHK script that presses the space bar 20 times a second (can be toggled), but it affected the framerate. Now when I'm in story and elsewhere, I just play with the UI turned off.

I used to be safe from popups in Midtown. Then, I find myself battling alongside someone who has Wizard's artifact equipped tonight. Wizard would come out and now I'm suddenly being spammed by dialog boxes in Midtown. I am taking this as a deliberate attack against me for my incessant complaints.

I don't need any more merging behaviors between gaming and porn.

[GIVEAWAY] I'm Doing It For The LULZ!

There's been a lot of tension on the forums recently. It's starting to look like a Civil War around here.

Now nobody can complain that this isn't Marvel-related. :P

So, it's time for some good old-fashioned fun!

Another anonymous donor has decided to use me as a front-man for a new Giveaway. Seeing as how my last attempt at humor was a little too subtle, we're going so over the top that nobody can take this seriously!

Let's get the rules out of the way...

Rule #1: If you come into this Giveaway with a bad attitude, you're disqualified. Not Psylock'd, not Squirrel Girl'd, just flat out disqualified. Spread your misery somewhere else.

Rule #2: No matter how you feel about anything that's currently going on elsewhere, this is not the place to discuss it. This is purely to have fun and give away prizes.

Rule #3: Tell me a joke! Keep it clean and forum-friendly, but make it funny. Humor is subjective, so you won't be judged on the quality of your joke, just on whether or not you're willing to laugh with us.

Rule #4: Tell us what prize you want! It can be any ONE item that's available in the store worth up to 1450 Gs *.

Rule #5: Failure to comply with Rules 2-4 can only mean one thing...

Rule #6: Tell me another joke! After all, this is "FOR THE LULZ!"

This contest will end Sunday at Noon PST. Get your entries in before that, or you're out of luck. Prizes will be handed out to the winners and Psylocke Tokens will be handed out to Total Losers (that's your cue, @Whtwolf ).

  • Bundles and 10-packs of Fortune Cards count as a single item if they're under the 1450 G limit.

And with that, I'm out!

Animation Improvements, Reponsiveness, & Animation Cancelling, Coming Soon!

$
0
0

Greetings everyone!

Some of you may have noticed the hero updates slow down slightly this week, and though that was partially due to bug fixes, we've also taken some time out to resolve a long-standing friction point with almost all heroes - Animation Lock.

Shipping with the next patch, we have vastly opened up our Animation Cancelling feature, and have allowed most cooldown and non-spammable powers to be animation cancelled shortly after their 'contact time', or 'the point at which the power deals damage'. Powers can never be cancelled before the contact time, so you don't have to worry about cancelling out of a power before it hits.

Animation cancelling is performed automatically so long as you have queued a power, so you don't have to worry about precise timing of button presses - the cancelling will happen behind the scenes as long as you have queued up another power to activate. The most noticeable way to see this is when using a Dash power - Cooldown powers with long animations can now be cancelled by using a Dash power much faster than before, getting you out of harm's way sooner, ultimately making the game feel more responsive and giving you more control over your hero.

Here's an example: Captain America has a movie-inspired animation for his shield throwing powers, which has a bit of flourish time at the end as the shield leaves his hands - half a second, to be precise, from the time the shield leaves his hands to the time you regain control of Cap. Now, after the shield is in the air as a projectile, if another power has already been queued (or you activate another power manually), then that flourish at the end will blend seamlessly into the new power that has been activated. If you want to see the flourish, no worries - it will always play as long as you aren't telling the game via another key press that you want to do something else immediately. To help visualize this, here is a sample of the timeline before & after:

Before - 900 Millisecond Animation of a Non-Repeatable Power

|-Start------~450 MS------Contact Time-------~400 MS----Power Is Cancellable-~50 MS-End-|

After - 900 Millisecond Animation of a Non-Repeatable Power

|-Start------~450 MS------Contact Time-~50 MS-Power Is Cancellable----~400 MS------End-|

These cancel windows are meticulously manually placed, to ensure that no animation 'breaks' or looks awkward when cancelled. For example, Human Torch's Scorching Pyre has a very slightly longer than average cancel window, because he's up in the air during the contact time, and interrupting the animation at that point causes some visual hitches. We instead allow him to cancel when he's about halfway back to the ground.

Additionally, we took the time to analyze every single animation in the game regarding its lock time - how much time between the moment the power is activated to the moment the power deals damage. This time frame is always going to prevent further power activation and movement, since cancelling is only allowed after the power has dealt damage. Any animations that were found to be excessively long have been trimmed down, and some animations have been replaced entirely with new, crisper, more responsive animations.

In total, over 400 Hero Powers have been changed to better their responsiveness in this pass.

Question: Will this mean I need to execute these cancels in order to maximize DPS?!

Answer: Strictly technically speaking, yes. However - since the system accepts queued commands as instructions to cancel, most players won't change the physical button presses of a rotation. Almost all players queued the next power they wanted to use quite some time before they were allowed to use it, and the power queuing system simply took care of executing the power when it was able to do so. All of that is still true - the only difference is that those powers will be executed just a hair bit faster than before. If you are familiar with a particular rotation, you will not need to master new timings or make flawlessly timed key presses - the queuing system will still do the work for you, just like it did before.

We're excited to deliver this long-requested feature - it really does feel like a night & day difference regarding the responsiveness of the game. We expect it to be released towards the end of the month. Current expectations are that this will be available in Public TC next week, but as always, dates are subject to change.

Okay, maybe I'm getting a bit worried too now.

Having checked out the cosmic items update, yeah I've got to now concede, maybe Gaz are running the ball in the wrong direction...

Look, I was mostly for the BUE changes, but these Cosmic item changes do seem like a Bridge too far, oversimplification is not a good thing it's going to lead to homogenization in a worse state than pre BUE.

Out of morbid curiosity I decided to check in with PoE and I'm shocked with how that game has changed, I wasn't "into" it before, but I've spent the past few days playing it like crazy. Heck the PoE team are doing the "More of what You Want" style with the new league that has every league plus item drops in pre nerf states coming up in less than two weeks.

This isn't an I Quit post, said it before, I'll say it again, I'll be here when the doors close, but these changes to the loot mantra to less diverse and flavourful choices versus PoEs "You want it, you got it" have even me worried that MH is going to be in trouble if they don't do something special with Omega items.

So yeah, devs, those Omega items best be special because those Cosmic changes are not helping the case.

Edit: For those wondering what I mean, the new Cosmics might as well be straight up stat sticks, there's very little flavour behind them and it's going to lead to everyone seeking out the "best" stat stick roll set of CDR, CR, Attributes plus cosmic effect in line with your characters kit. I'm not enthusiastic about something like that and would've liked to have seen stuff like damage reflect, life on hit and life regen here, even some flavourful procs and effects.

No trade is KILLING the game.

Cosmic artifacts being untradeable is killing the game. The trade channel is dead. People only sell for very rare things like very high insignias and armored cores which is very hard to get. You cant expect people to farm for hours for a specific artifact when there are people out there who have the things that you want and you have the things that they want. It is cruel. I dont enjoy the artifacts being untradeable. When you imply something you should expect people enjoy it.

It is not an MMORPG game that you play only 1 character. Let people play what they want. This makes people only play some specific game mods and maps. You guys basicaly want people to play only a specific patrol or terminal for hours and you dont know that it will make people get bored and leave the game. This thing realy makes me crazy. I cant buy the insignia or core i am looking for because of that thing. Artifacts should be freely tradeable. @Asros @KomoriMan

I think the game should not require internet connection anymore which will solve lag problems too. It is pretty much a single player game.

When will we be able to completely disable team-ups?

I know, I need the new boost and my SHIELD bar fills faster if I use more than one. But harder content seems not rewarding and Boss rushing seems bad.

I have seen a lot of different statements how fast pepole get it filled.

1 boost - 30 mins CMM bosses - gave me 2 segments, this is my experience, others told me:

  • 1 boost - 30 mins red MM bosses - 1,5 bar
  • 3 boosts - 1 Comsic Task term with bounty - 0,3 bar
  • 5 boosts - 1 comisc term with all Mobs - 1 bar per minute
  • 5 boosts - 1 comisc term with all mobs - 1 bar per term

It seems only the defeats count, no matter the difficulty and bosses count as much as mobs. Can anyone claryfy this?

edit:
now I did 5 boosts - cosmic terms - got 42 chests - content on page 3

Which of these are your favourites, and are there any other costumes or looks for Noh-Varr that you'd like to see added if he becomes playable in future?

Please note that, as with all my costume threads, this is not meant to be a complete list of all of Noh's costumes and outfits. I will endeavour to update when possible, but please do not be offended if a particular look that was suggested in thread is not added to the list.

Any chance for the Cosmic Spider-Man aka Captain Universe costume someday?

Are there other characters who need more costumes before Spider-Man? Absolutely. But I would really love to see this one in the game. I think it'd be a neat team up possibly, a sweet side boss (since he gets somewhat corrupted towards the end :P), whatever. Would be neat to be a mini-enhanced too, I dunno. Just rambling.

I feel like this game has nothing to offer to "me"(personally) anymore.

So I've been farming farming farming for the past 12 hours, with tons of old and new boosts, after the update I wanted to start over cuz I've dropped the game for a good few months. Then I started back and saw Shield Supply Boxes and I was like woooooo this new supply box thing is awesome so I bought 10$ of boosts today just to realise they'll be nerfing the drop rate of ES in these boxes, and I've never dropped an ARTIFACT let alone a cosmic one in a 12 hour long farming. I love the game, just started to feel like there is not that much of a thing holding me in game. Probably people will rage like (then why the fleck are you still on forums you motherflecker). Please. I'm just trying to start playing again but the content is still the same, I can't find joy in it.
