I'm not here to talk about the fairness of the coupon's system.
I just don't understand some numbers with them. In fact, it's two of them I don't understand. 5 and 90.
The goal of this coupons are to make buy (G) people who wouldn't have bought (G) otherwise, right? In order for Gazillion to get some cash. That's understable. It's a promotion. Promotions exist since Eden, when God told Adam: "Not two ribs and a liver. Not two ribs. For this magnific and obedient woman, it will, just for you, only cost a rib.".
So why -5%? Do Gaz really think that having a whole -5% discount would made someone bought (G) if they didn't want to in the first place?
_ "Do you want this 2.000$ vacuum cleaner with the face of Elvis on it?"
_ "No."
_ "And if I say... With a 5% discount?"
_ "Wait... So only 1900$ instead of 2000$?"
_ "Exactly my dear Sir."
_ "That's crazy! I don't need it, but deal!"
Hmm, no, I don't see that happening.
And then 90%. I'm sure everyone loves such a huge discount, but isn't that too much? For Gazillion at least? I'm sure anyone would buy (G) with a 80% or even a 70% discount, so why so much? A 90% will of course make someone buy (G), but at what cost? Not only the amount spent won't be much, he would probably never buy (G) again (either because he will have more than enough, or simply because, psychologicaly, he wouldn't want to buy (G) with a lesser deal than he had).
It looks, for me, that the -5% coupon is useless (maybe even worse, some may felt Language! by Gaz) and that the 90% one is a bad business move (not for the customer, but for Gaz).
