why? am I missing something? is it a forum bug?
cant change my avatar
So with the new flourish system....
What kind of visuals and maybe even emotes would you like to see ??? :)
Personally I would like to see the following:
1.Glowing Auras: Basically like some of the glowing procs on uniques but in a much wider variety of colors.
2.Dance emotes: I know the original was scrapped but this new system could eventually lead to a new idea making it through.
3.Boss themed visuals and emotes: Spray paints, visual effects and maybe even a few boss themed emotes that can rarely drop off the intended bosses.
Looking forward to hear what other people might want below. :)
Tiered Strength/Difficulty Heroes Idea
Given how some heroes tower above most others in terms of their power in the comics, should certain heroes be set up to be stronger than others, but requiring a longer investment in that character both in terms of player skill, and character leveling/gear stats?
I figured this would be unfair to those whose favorite hero isn't a demi god or is more on the normal scale of super powers, but they did it with thor in:
MUA 1 (took longer to max out but over time the strongest character)
and they've done it in online games such as MU (where you have to have a normal hero level 300/400 to make the overpowered class option
-as well as maplestory with difficulty vs power stats on classes.
I can see this being very controversial, but where better to have a conversation than a forum =]

An Essay on Defense.
Warning: if you need everything in nice short Twitter style tweets, the door is over there.
Now be quiet, the grown ups are talking.
The premise:
So, defense in this game is a horrible, arcane and impenetrable set of complex interlocking formulas and diminished returning properties, and basically it does not work well.
Now with the Biggest Update Ever, all attributes get some sort of defense boost as the "reward" for increasing them, and this also does virtually nothing.
I've tried to understand defense, and it seems to break down something like so:
1. Damage Reduction is the percentage of the enemies' attack negated, and is made up of the following:
2. Defense rating which seems to come from slot 1-3 gear and can be maxed at 27% by slot 1-3 gear alone, according to the probably outdated info I could find.
So if my Defense Rating is the full slot 1-3 gear-given 27%, then my Damage Reduction means I take only 83% of whatever an enemy hits me for, right?
My character can add to their defense rating through passive powers and presumably other gear, and this further reduces damage taken, but there are Diminishing Returns, so it becomes pointless to waste resources on this past a certain point.
3. Dodge Rating: where supposedly you avoid damage entirely, but somehow 40% of whatever dodge you have is added to Damage Reduction total.
Why have an number that you only actually get 40% of? I don't know, presumably it would be too easy to understand if your (for instance) 25% dodge chance was actually a 25% chance to dodge something.
I also don't understand how if I entirely avoid the damage, that contributes to an amount the damage is reduced by in Damage Reduction.
Either I did avoid it, in which case there is no damage to be reduced, or I didn't, in which case I take all the damage.
Wotever, let's posit an arbitrary 20% Dodge Rating chance, which adds only 8% to my Damage Reduction total, so gear plus dodge is now 35%.
4. Deflect Rating is an awesome percentage chance to reduce incoming damage by 50%.
Because that isn't quite complicated enough, 20% of a players Deflect Chance will be added to Damage Reduction.
So if I have a 20% Deflect Rating chance to reduce incoming damage by 50%, that means I actually add 4% to my total Damage Reduction, because reasons.
Again, the decision to inflate the apparent gains for the player only to give a paltry 1/5 of those points in actual benefit is a mystery to me.
I also don't understand why a simple percentage chance to reduce damage by 50% does not get added as a 50% value of itself.
If I somehow managed a 100% Deflect rating, then by definition the Damage is Reduced by 50%, so you would think logically that Damage Reduction would ipso facto gain 50% of whatever your Deflect Rating is.
But no, Damage Reduction gets 20% of the Deflect Rating.
So lets add an unremarkable 10% Deflect Rating, AKA 2% of Damage Reduction making my total 37% Damage reduction.
That's not so difficult and arcane, you might say.
I would argue that inflating numbers only to then immediately divide them by 40% or 20% is needlessly complex, and that saying one thing negates damage entirely but then it actually only serves to deduct some damage taken is arcane, but let's not fight.
We have our hypothetical Exemplar at 37% Damage Reduction.
But wait, it gets betterer and betterer.
I give you
** Total Rating Multipliers**
Accompanying the 3 primary stats of Defense, Dodge, and Deflect are the corresponding multiplier stats:
5. Total Defense Rating Multiplier,
6. Total Dodge Rating Multiplier,
7. and Total Deflect Rating Multiplier.
These stats are very simple to understand and simply increase your base rating value.
Example: a player with 20% Total Defense Rating and 5000 Defense Rating will have a final value of 6000 Defense Rating (20% more than 5000)
Wait, what?
Why would you add in a further layer of multipliers to a system already needing a calculator to understand?
Supposedly this adds "flavour", so Spidey has a higher "Total Dodge Rating Multiplier", and Hulk a higher "Total Deflect Rating Multiplier" so you would gear them appropriately, and not try for a Dodge based Hulk.
So now depending on who our example is, they might get a % increase on the 40% or 20% of something added into Damage Reduction, and I'm not going to bother calculating that.
The new Attribute system adds in the following to the morass above:
8. "reduced damage from Deflected attacks", which is a percentage chance (or amount? who knows?) to reduce the 50% reduction derived from the 20% of the percentage chance given by Deflect Rating, which is then multiplied by the "Total Deflect Rating Multiplier" before being added in to the total Damage Reduction.
Simples.
9. "reduced damage from Melee attacks" which is maybe a percentage reduction of damage taken from a melee attack if it's not 40% chance of dodged or 20% chance of deflected which somehow is factored in to the total Damage Reduction, presumably via a "Total Melee Damage Reduction Rating Multiplier" and a system of diminishing returns.
Easy peasy.
10. "reduced damage from Area attacks", where you take the number you first thought of, subtract your age, and multiply by the number of the house you were born in, minus the number of letters in your first pet's name.
Is this the card you chose?
What about this one?
11."reduced damage from Ranged attacks", which is some damn thing multiplied by a sliding percentage of a random number with a side order of diminishing returns.
How these actually affect Damage Reduction I don't know.
I don't know if they are % chances to reduce those types of damage, or flat % reductions of those types of damage.
Either way they are another layer of complexity added to an already bewildering system.
12. And Lastly of course there is Good Old Health, the straightforward number from which any damage taken is deducted.
Increase this, and it obviously increases your defense, though it does not get calculated into Damage Reduction.
If you got this far, well done.
If not, TLDR:
There is no TLDR.
As we can see above, there are 12 interacting properties making up Defense, these are increased via gear, infinity nodes and sticking pins in dolls (they are Damage Reduction, Defense Rating, Dodge Rating, Deflect Rating, Total Defense Rating Multiplier, Total Dodge Rating Multiplier, Total Deflect Rating Multiplier, Reduced Damage from Deflected/Melee/Area/Ranged, and Health).
And no matter how much you increase any and all of them, you will melt like a snowball in Satan's Microwave during a heatwave should you stand still for 2 seconds anywhere in the more difficult bits of the game.
"Git gud, don't stand in the fire, stoopid" you might posit.
Well, since I used to have a way to actually manually dodge incoming damage, AKA "dash", I could do that and not waste time trying to get the 12 stages of denial defense to do something.
Now, I have 12 worthless ways to do nothing from which to choose, and no way to actually avoid incoming damage via a Dodge whereby I actually dodge rather than enter a percentage into a formula in a spreadsheet in order to still take damage.
What happened to simplification of the game so people can understand it?
The New Attributes which cost 25 Infinity points (by which I mean 6 x 25 = 150 Infinity points, thanks Round Robin) to increase will not help much by giving me a 0.1% reduction in Melee Damage taken, or whatever.
I stacked Hulks Primary Attribute of Durability on TC via infinity, gear, pets, medals and arties, and got straight up murdered, again and again and again.
I have no effective, easily understandable way to increase my survivability (other than Health increase), and no way to manually avoid damage in an effective way.
It's not a complaint that the game is Too Hard, but that it's tedious to have no control and just watch a bunch of numbers get calculated based on processes too complex and boring to be worth understanding.
The Conclusion:
So what do I want?
Well, a system of defense I can understand, for a start.
One percentage property, called, say, "Defense" which can be increased via Gear, Passives, Infinity nodes etc.
Not via "you get 25% of a 50% chance to deflect 50% of damage multiplied by your Total Number Rating".
If I equip gear/take power/infinity node that increases my Defense by 3% then I take 3% less damage. The end.
Have your diminishing returns kick in past 50-60%, as I suppose you must, but let the player know that is happening via pop-ups or colour coding ie "Warning, diminishing returns means you will gain only 0.5% Defense if you equip this 3% Gear".
Call it something different for each character for flavour, so for Spidey/DD/Panther it's "Dodge", For Iron Man/Colossus/War Machine it's "Armour", for Thing/Hulk/Thor it's "Toughness".
Or just call it "Defense" if nothing flavourful comes to mind.
I would also like to be able control my character.
To have a button/power which either lets me dodge or block, depending on the character, so I can respond to and interact with the game in a meaningful way.
The opportunity cost is obvious, if I'm dodging/blocking I am doing zero damage, and if I'm doing zero damage i'm not getting lewt.
You want fights to take longer, be less trivial, for me to stick around and admire the scenery?
Give me an interaction that interrupts my DPS and all of that happens.
I honestly cannot see why there needs to be a cooldown on such a power, since it delays me doing damage.
It cannot "trivialize" a fight if the best it gets me is back to the starting point of full health.
I still need to attack and beat the enemy.
And if being able to get back to full health within a fight is problematic, then look to Medkit use cooldowns and healing passives if they are OP.
Actual TLDR:
Simplify Defense so I can see if something will make a difference, and give me control of my character.
Have servers just gone down?
Disconnected during a Hightown patrol, now can't reconnect to the server. Have they just gone down, anyone else experiencing this?
Edit: It appears normal service has resumed folks :D
Is stuttering normal in this game?
So after a long break I decide to come back to this game after I built a really good PC: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/dNhpVY
However, whenever I move around, I still notice stutters when my fps drops from like the 200's down to the 120's and 90's in midtown. Even in regular terminals I still get stutters. I made sure all my drivers were updated and I also have G-sync turned on too. Enabling V-sync also didn't change anything. CPU Temps seem fine too.
I don't think I should be getting these issues with an i7 7700k and GTX 1080.
Is this normal for this game or something?
Thanks Gaz!!
Opened up a free character token and it was Kitty Pryde. One of the few I don't have and didn't consider getting.
Levelling her now and she is so much fun! Anyone looking for a new character, i highly recommend!!
Question about the default costumes
I can't find the post that answers my question, sorry.
So, with the upcoming changes (the wardrobe thingy), if I blend some default costumes now, will I have them when the patch hits ? Or I won't need a costume to slot the new core (now renamed) and stuff ?
Thanks.
is it worth to get recipe to upgrade 66 and 69 uniques at the moment?
is it worth to spend commendations for recipes?
Is There Currently Benefit To Partying?
I like having incentive to playing with others. It makes it easier to meet people and interact in-game. Partying is currently useful for legendary quests and daily missions, but is there a point to partying in something like story mode while leveling a hero? Like a +5% exp for each player in party to compensate for the added difficulty. If I remember correctly, difficulty scales higher with bigger parties.
Is Gaz affected by the voice actors strike?
It's not one of 11 companies that SAG-AFTRA is directly targeting but does Gaz expect any future heroes, updates, whatever to be impacted by the strike?
Make Domino playable pls ! Give us Domino !
And the Dink will make her costume !

Are you holding out for a 75% or even 90% coupon before spending?
Quite a few people have stated in other threads that they were only going to spend money if they get the 90% off coupon.
I don't have any plans or expectations to spend money in the next 6 months, but a 75% or higher coupon would probably change my mind. I'm technically not holding out for one, I'm just waiting to see how the system revamps turn out and if i find endgame fun again. That's going to take some time
Opening 44 Crimson boxes!
NOT BAD
MH Should Delay renaming the game until late 2017
With this huge update coming, MH should focus on content development on a more cosmic level to coincide with the upcoming shift in marvel movies, what with GotG2 and Avengers: Infinity Wars. They should release the Thanos raid, release some more cosmic characters like Adam Warlock, playable Thanos, the OG Captain Marvel, etc, and rename the game to Marvel Heroes Infinity. That way they can avoid these yearly re-releasing and start aggregating reviews under one name.
Thoughts?
Marvel Heroes 2017
Hello
So, when is Gazillion going to rebrand the game as Marvel Heroes 2017? Are they going to? Should they do it?
Perhaps they will do it after the big update?
EDIT - Names suggested:
Diablo 4
Marvel Heroes Infinity
Marvel Heroes: subtitle related to the biggest content they will release this year
Marvel Universe 2017
Marvel Cinematic Universe Online
Heads up
@KomoriMan @Asros How much of a heads up can players expect before the big updates start hitting production? Personally, I want to do some screen caps of my inventory and account info just to be on the safe side of things. I'd like to be able to plan to set aside time to do so without it being an urgent matter.
