@psilocke I feel like im beating a dead horse a bit(we've talked about this before) but im pretty certain this mechanic is either bugged or just plain doesn't work as is intended. The reason I keep bringing it up is because two of my mains now have this mechanic and it's very noticeable, especially with both being over 66% brutal strike chance. I decided to test it using Bo Beatdown on gambit. After his sig he gets 14 hits in with my current setup. Test results were as follows:
154 strikes of Bo beatdown with always crit enabled with a brutal strike chance of 66.6%
74 brutal strikes landed
% of brutal strikes landed=47%
That's just shy of 20% difference. I understand that variation is going to happen but that's way too much isnt it?
edit: The thread is getting pretty long so I feel like I need to address a few things so that we can all be on the same page when new responses are made:
- We have a big enough sample size(around 3400 attempts now)
- We are dealing with binomial distribution(only 2 outcomes are possible)
- The mechanic is suppose to function like so(@psilocke quote):
"There is no such thing as a "natural" crit. If you have 0% "natural" crit chance, 50% brutal chance, and gain a buff with 100% crit chance, you will brutal strike 50% of the time (the other 50% being critical hits).
Thus, always crit is one of the strongest buffs a power can have in Marvel Heroes. Depending on your level of Critical Damage and Brutal Chance/Damage, it can increase the average damage of a BiS player's power by more than 60%.This is why these type of affixes are never attached to spammable powers (such as Slashing Lunge). I hope that clarifies a bit about why it's not 100% uptime."
