I don't particularly dislike it, either. For me, it's just sort of... there. I'm sure there's some fans who love it, but I don't find it particularly exciting.
Someone at Gaz seems to, though, because there's a ton of Age of Apocalypse costumes in the game. At least 6 different heroes have one.
The thing is, some of the heroes who have Age of Apocalypse costumes have other costumes I'd love to see in the game, and when these get passed over so we can have yet more Age of Apocalypse costumes, well, I'm not inclined to spend money on them.
