Why this thread?
There are heroes with no spirit nor other resource to spend [Deadpool, Hulk ...]
There are heroes with powers that allow them to regenerate spirit easly and sometimes also deal dmg. [Some of them need this power in their power bar to have spirit]
And there are heroes who are spirit starved and lose dmg/ second because they have to use basic power for quite some time until the spirit replenish. They have to gear for spirit so they are narrowed in build diversity.
So some heroes don't have basics, some don't need them, some are stuck with them and it's not fair. After the first part of this topic there are further notions from the thread about spirit and powers.
We will have only 8 power slots.
One being dash/movement. So we have not too much room for manuver.
Some people use basics and they could slot them. [Maybe upgrade with talents or items]
Some people don't use basics but when there is no mana left and no second bar then it's standing in place watching.
So my proposition is:
If hero have no spirit he uses basic power with left click.
More specifically:
- If hero have only one basic power and there is no mana and we use left mouse button we activate basic power.
- If hero have two basics, one ranged one melee:
- If there is no mana and we use left mouse button we activate melee basic power.
- If there is no mana and we use shift+left mouse button we wactivate ranged basic power.
- If hero have two basic of one kind melee or ranged.
- If there is no mana and we use left mouse button we activate first one in the level progresion [or from the left if both are on lvl 1]
- If there is no mana and we use shift+left mouse button we activate second one in the level progresion [or from right if both are on lvl 1
Hero shouldn't have more than two basics but for this and maybe for what is above:
Maybe there could be a "designate basic power for left click".
This is of course all based on my assumptions about how the system will work.

To go away with basic powers but have better spirit menagement.
No spirit cost for single target spenders and basics raised to their level [giving use to exisitng animation that were rarely used]. Recomepnsing with something like more spirit cost for rest powers.
- Having bassic power to not be a burden on your powerbar and your damage output but a viable option.
Because it's about spirit menagement vs dmg vs fun of the play.
