Did we just get Diablo 3'd?

I've played this game since launch. I like complexity. I like variety. I like to be challenged playing a character. I like having to put some effort in on a character and not just start playing one, and max them out in a few hours, and be done.

This is why I loved Diablo II and exactly why I hate Diablo 3. This is why I can still play Diablo II and look forward to it and why I haven't played Diablo 3 in years.

Here's what Diablo II's abilities looked like:

Yes, min/maxing reduced the option of usable powers, but we always had the option to take every power or take 6.

Here's essentially that same class in Diablo 3:

This is not an improvement. This is a gut job.

I don't know who "inceptioned" the idea that one toolbar is a good thing into the minds of Devs at Gaz but I cannot disagree with it more. And I urge you not to turn this game into something so simplistic.

I tried for a long time to figure out Dr. Strange and to get him to a point where I liked him and felt comfortable with him. And that just happened within the last 4-5 months. And yes, I needed to add a plugin that let me use all three bars. But now that I can play him, it's amazing.

I don't care that Colossus only needs 8 or that Cyclops only needs 6. The tradeoff to playing Dr. Strange vs Colossus was not the buttons pushed per DPS, it was the variety and versatility of Dr. Strange's powers versus Colossus. Strange had AoE, he had a freebie mechanic, he had cooldowns, he had buffs, defenses, invisibility, clones, and single target. Colossus stomps. And Colossus smashes. And Colossus jumps.

If I wanted to play something easy, I'd be playing Candy Crush or Angry Birds.

Even a Playstation controller has more buttons than that (4 right thumb buttons, L1-3, R1-3 gets you to 10, and that's before you include the d-pad, options, select, and touch pad).

Maybe I'm wrong and the talents really will enhance diversity. But the 8 power button thing is a huge problem for me.

Simple does not equal fun.
