Uh oh...
It looks like it's time for another patented @lesotheron Wall O' Text. Anyone who is familiar with my posting style will know what to expect; lots and lots of words, maybe a few pictures and if there's a TL;DR, it's there to make fun of you for wanting a TL;DR. Obviously, you're not obligated to read any or all of this. However, if you don't read it, there's not much point in responding. I have a habit of making fun of people who respond to things they haven't actually read and I don't see that changing today. :P
I've been seeing a lot of negative, nitpicking topics around the forums lately. Things like complaints about stuff taking too long to be released, people disagreeing with how things get prioritized, even complaints about what various things are named. As I'm quickly approaching my two-year anniversary with Marvel Heroes, these kinds of topics bother me. It's not like I have a problem with people complaining. After all, without complaints, how would Gaz know we don't like something. But these recent topics seem to be complaining...just for the sake of complaining.
So, I just thought I'd pop in here and remind everyone of exactly what Gaz has given us in the last 8 months. Maybe once people see just how much work Gaz has put into Marvel Heroes in less than a year, they'll give the Devs a little slack and allow them to continue working on making the game better.
1) Danger Room - December 10, 2015 - An entirely new Game Mode that offers high-level, end-game gear and is infinitely replayable.
2) The Winter Event - December 18, 2015 - Almost as awesome as the Anniversary Event and a great way to celebrate the holidays.
3) Chapter 10 - January 29, 2016 - A new Story Chapter featuring the Skrulls. Comes with several great rewards, including permanent Health, Spirit and Skill Point Bonuses.
4) Controller Support - January 29, 2016 - That's right, you can now play Marvel Heroes with a gamepad. I prefer my keyboard/mouse, but a lot of people were very excited for this feature.
5) Crafting Revamp - January 29, 2016 - Do you remember when we had SEVEN different tiers of the 4 different Crafting Elements? Do you remember when certain Crafting Recipes required Magneto or Hood Medallions? Do you remember when you needed to manually add every single thing to a recipe? Do you remember when you had to do that every single time you wanted to reroll an Artifact? If so, then you know how amazing this change was. If not, thank Gaz right now for the fact that you never had to put up with that. :P
6) Hightown Patrol - January 29, 2016 - A new Patrol Mode to play around in. This one features Skrulls, a new Legendary from Gorgon, lots of new Artifacts and every single boss wave drops a Unique. What's not to love?
7) Visual Updates - January 29, 2016 - This is when Gaz started going over older Costumes and making them look a LOT better. The process is still ongoing, but it started here.
8) Leaderboards - January 29, 2016 - Oh look, there's now a way to track your progress and compare it to other players. What's that? Why is that important? Because it brings up my next point.
9) Tournaments - March 18th, 2016 - So, now that we can track and compare information, Gaz lets us actually compete with each other for prizes. It's like PvP, but without actually having to deal with Marvel Heroes PvP. :))
10) Omega System Revamp - March 4th, 2016 - Gaz wanted to raise the Omega Cap, but they didn't want to break the game. So, what did they do? They revamped the entire system to streamline it, make it easier to use and allowed for the additional 2500 Omega Points that they made available.
11) The Daredevil Event - March 18, 2016 - Inspired by the second season of Netflix's Daredevil, Gaz gave us a sizeable Event focused around characters from the show (and other Netflix Marvel shows). To make sure everyone got to enjoy the Event properly, they even handed out free Daredevil Tokens.
12) Scaling Element Drops - April 8, 2016 - With the Crafting Rework in January, people wanted more Crafting Element drops. So Gaz designed a system where the higher level you are, the more Crafting Element dropped from enemies.
13) Shared Boss Loot Table - April 8, 2016 - You've been farming Kurse for months without getting a GotK? Well, now you can farm any end-game Boss and have a chance to get one. Oh, and you can get any other Boss-specific Artifact or Unique, too.
14) Cosmic Patrol Loot Fix - April 8, 2016 - People thought that certain Cosmic Patrols were better than others for either loot or XP...and they were right. So, Gaz fixed it. Now, no matter what Cosmic Patrol you want to play in, you're going to get the same awesome rewards you would in any other Cosmic Patrol.
15) King's County Event - April 14, 2016 - Wait, what's this? ICP is fun? Yes it is. It may only be temporary, but with any luck, it'll be recurring. ;)
16) Craftable Axis Raid Uniques - April 14, 2016 - Every single Axis Unique that has refused to drop for you in the last year or so can now be crafted, just like the Musphelheim Uniques. BiS gear has never looked so good.
17) Massive Enemy Tuning - April 29, 2016 - Gaz reworked the various Enemy systems to make them easier to create, modify and even livetune.
18) Civil War - May 6, 2016 - A month-long Event inspired by the Captain America: Civil War movie. A new Game Mode, two new Hubs, lots of new rewards, an entirely new Boss and possibly the easiest way to grind Mysterious Crimson Boxes in existence. Here's hoping we see a LOT more of this Event!
19) New Player Experience - May 6, 2016 - Gaz reworked the entire Marvel Heroes Prologue to make things easier for new players to pick up. For veterans, this may not mean much, but new players equals a healthier game.
20) Third Anniversary Event - June 3, 2016 - Marvel Heroes Anniversary Events are the stuff of legend. This one made the previous two look pale and tame. Gifts, stacking Events, massive Server-Side Bonuses and more Cake than even I could handle. If Gaz had given us nothing but the Anniversary Event, the vast majority of players would have been completely content for a month, but Gaz gave us more...
21) Skrull Terminal - June 3, 2016 - A brand new Terminal! The first new Terminal since before I started the game. Not only that, but it drops the same loot as the Hightown Patrol (which is some seriously amazing stuff).
22) Redone Raft - June 10, 2016 - Gaz completely redesigned the Raft section of the Prologue. It now looks better and makes more sense to new players.
23) Ultron Terminal - June 24, 2016 - Wait, ANOTHER new Terminal? YES! Now we can fight Ultron and steal his loot, without having to gather 4 other people for the Age of Ultron Game Mode.
24) Travel Power Rework - June 24, 2016 - Hey, remember when Travel Powers cost Spirit (or whatever resource your Hero used)? Remember when some Heroes didn't even HAVE a Travel Power? If you've been playing the game for more than a month you do. But you can forget about it now. Everyone can run, fly, ride, whatever to get where they need to be. And it's fast, too.
Wow, that's a pretty impressive list. And that's not including the various Heroes, Team-Ups, QoLs, Deadpool's 52 Review, Costumes, Individual Tournaments, Boosts or Mystery Boxes that they've added. I'm sure there's other stuff that I missed, but this is still a good representation of how much Gaz has accomplished in a short amount of time.
Now, of course there are still things that need done. Gaz is currently working on a Dynamic Combat Level system, a Difficulty Slider, a Blessings Rework, more Heroes/Costumes/Team-Ups and even more stuff that we don't have a clue about.
I'm not saying players shouldn't voice their opinions, even the negative ones. I'm still campaigning for Rogue's Multispec to be fixed and Bishop to make it into the Roster. However, I think we all need to sit back, relax and give Gaz a break. They may not have done everything you wanted them to, but it's not like they've been sitting around doing nothing. Let's all let them work and enjoy what they've been giving us.
And for anybody who STILL wants a TL;DR...
