I feel the need to start off justifying that I've been playing since beta and have all characters and every team-up except the Hydra double agent team up. So I do have a few other paywall team ups and have gladly paid to support the game. Sometimes I've thought I've gotten a bargain for some of the content, other times I've thought it was vastly overpriced.
This is one of the times it's been vastly overpriced. And I do realize there have been many other posts about the paywalls, especially where a specific piece has been locked away behind a card and the roll is random. In my case, I absolutely wanted the Captain America Civil War team up. Cap is my main in the game, I do have the variant costume and I'd love to use that team up alongside him.
So far my tally is up to $70 attempting to pull him out of the boxes. It has blown my mind. I have spent $5 on the other team ups and sometimes less. I've bought the packs as soon as their announced, which minimize their cost. I realize it's a special item, but I don't understand why it has to be randomized. Well, outside the profit incentive.
While I'm not much of a poster, it has driven me to the point of writing this to hoping that the devs do read this and hopefully consider this when doing another item like this. I would hope they would give us the option of outright buying the item at a higher cost. While I don't have their analysis, I would wonder if their profits would be higher. I realize that people that want to complete their collection will spend to obtain, as I am stopping at $70, I'm sure people have dropped more and some have gotten lucky off their free box. And I'm sure that some folks won't even bother because the chance isn't worth it/prohibitive. So I would ask if they'd do further analysis. Or even if they'd release it at a later point outside the paywall for a purchase.
And I do realize that it's essentially a re-skin of an existing team-up, but it is one that would better suit my play style.
